Stay & Play
For Parents & Carers

Sessions are designed for children roughly aged 18 months to 5 years, however ages and stages differs from child to child, I have some younger children who attend sessions and throw themselves into each opportunity! Siblings are welcome during the holidays.

Yes – Stay and Play sessions are designed for adults to accompany and engage with their child in the outdoor environment. It is also a really lovely opportunity to meet other parents and carers.

We play outside in all weather, so please dress your child in layers, waterproofs, and wellies, wet and/ cold weather is forecast. In warmer months, sun hats and lotion are essential. I recommend old clothes for both you and your little ones – things might get muddy!

Refreshments will be provided, tea and coffee for grown ups and water for children. I always try to offer a small sweet treat and free from alternatives will always be provided.

Sessions go ahead rain or shine, unless there are high winds or thunderstorms forecase. You’ll be contacted as soon as possible if a session needs to be cancelled for safety reasons.

Most locations are accessible via buggy, but some terrain may be uneven or muddy and there isn’t indoor shelter to store buggies. A baby carrier or sling may be easier.

On-site parking is available at Brampton Grange.

The Artichoke Pub in Moulton have kindly said BUDS customers can use their parking facilities for the duration of sessions. Busby’s Meadow is located just to the side of the pub, so ideal walking distance, even for the littlest legs!

Absolutely. Please contact me in advance to discuss any specific needs so I can make your experience as inclusive and supported as possible. I am hoping to run dedicated SEND sessions at Brampton Grange once it is open. These sessions will host fewer children, to ensure a calm environment. Adaptations can be made such as offering visual cues and Now and Next boards. I can also provide a Social Story in advance to share with your child, so they know what to expect from their time at BUDS. Of course, our usual sessions can be accessed by all, but I think it is important to offer dedicated sessions for those who would prefer.

For Schools, Nurseries & Educational Settings

I work with Early Years through to Key Stage 2. Sessions are tailored to meet the developmental needs and interests of the children attending. A conversation between me and the class teacher can help ensure sessions are designed appropriately for all.

Sessions can be designed to support curriculum topics, wellbeing, or seasonal themes. They will consist of playing games, singing songs and free play and exploration. Sessions really are bespoke to the setting, cohort and amount of time available. I can offer regular weekly sessions or I can deliver a one off, ‘wow’ experience to kick start or end a topic, or celebrate a special occasion such as British Science Week.

I will bring most loose equipment and resources, however there may be occasions where I may ask if the school are able to provide specific resources. Tables/ seating/ tuff trays would ideally be provided by the setting. This can be discussed beforehand.

Settings must provide:

  • A safe outdoor space, don’t worry if it isn’t specifically woodland or if it isn’t a big patch of land. I can make it work!
  • Supporting adults, depending on the ages and stages of the children attending. I usually work with children in groups of no more than 15 and as a rough guide, I would require at least one adult to support with this. Tool work is delivered in a 1:2 ratio, and if this was something you would like children to take part in, a second additional adult would be required to support.
  • Children’s water bottles can be brought to the sessions
  • Children’s information, including names, medical needs, and allergies.

Yes – a site visit and risk assessment of the site and activities will be completed before sessions can begin. These will be shared with the setting.

Yes, I am a qualified primary school teacher with 9 years of teaching experience. I am also a Level 3 qualified Forest School Leader. Most of my teaching experience lies in EYFS, however, I have also taught in KS1 and KS2. I am passionate about the EYFS ethos of learning through play and am a big believer that all ages of children can benefit from this, not just in the younger years.
